What is a “Carry Forward” Exam?
A Carry Forward Exam is used when you have registered for the exam in the past but did not take the exam. The exam has been postponed, with approval from the ICO. To apply for this exam, you only need a completed application and a copy of your letter from the ICO approving your postponement.
What is the difference between advanced examination Q115 and Q180 ?
Those who have passed the three basic examinations in the old scheme need to pass FICO examination with 115 questions to be eligible for award of MRCS Edinburgh. Those who pass the three basic examinations in the new scheme are eligible to apply for MRCS Edinburgh without any further examinations.
Advanced examination with 180 questions is for those who want to go for FRCS Edinburgh. As of now, only those who have passed advance examination Q115 are eligible to appear for Q180.
Will I be issued a Hall ticket for the Exam by the ICO?
ICO does not issue a Hall ticket, but in order to enter the examination hall the candidate needs to produce any of the following Government issued ID Proofs, which shall serve as Hall Ticket.
The Accepted ID proofs are:
– Driving License
– Adhaar Card
– PAN Card
– Voter ID
Will any Stationary be provided by the Exam Center Organizers?
The Candidate is required to bring HIS OWN stationary to the Exam Hall.
– HB Pencil ( to mark your answer , Pens are strictly not allowed)
Any Electronic devices are not to be carried in the Hall. (Mobile phones or other electronic accessories are to be switched off and handed over the Exam Invigilator)
What is meant by a Face to Face Examination?
It means the Practical Clinical examination that is conducted as a part of your MS, DO, DNB, MD or any Equivalent Post Graduate Ophthalmology Course. A Scanned Copy of your degree is to be uploaded if you are to apply for the FICO Advanced Exam.
Can Candidates from other Centers also apply through this portal?
We do not encourage other Center candidates to apply through this portal.
Can I withdraw from the Examination once the fee has been paid by my?
Withdrawal of applications is not encouraged by the ICO, whereas on special request the exam date can be postponed.
When are the ICO exam conducted every year?
ICO conducts exams every April and October annually depending on which exams you have chosen to give.
Can I choose to combine multiple exams to be given together?
You can choose to appear for Optics, Refraction and Instruments, Basic Sciences and Clinical Ophthalmology together on a single day. Whereas you can also choose to appear for FICO Advanced and ICO Sub Specialty Examinations together on a Single Day.
How can I avail a reduced fee of group booking?
This website charges only the reduced fee for group booking through coordinator. We do not charge the full fee for any candidates, even if they come to us as a single applicant.
Can the center of examination be changed once I have selected a different center?
It is possible to change the centre under special circumstances , provided you are able to intimate us early enough.
Will transportation or Accommodation be provided to Candidates who are traveling to Examination Center?
All expenses for travel and accommodation arrangements are to be made by the candidate. It is better to plan your travel ahead of time to avoid confusion on the day of the exam.
